Which glazing do you have?
Magnetic cleaners are matched to glass thickness. Get it right and the tool holds; get it wrong and it can lose grip and drop. Here's how to check — and if you're unsure, send us the details and we'll tell you.
How to check in four steps
- 1Open the window and look at the edge of the sealed unit where the glass meets the frame.
- 2Count the panes of glass: one sheet = single, two with a gap = double, three with two gaps = triple.
- 3If you can, measure the total edge thickness with a ruler or the corner of a card against a known width.

Single glazing
≈ 3–6 mm total
One sheet of glass. Common in older windows, sheds and internal doors.
Double glazing
≈ 20–28 mm total
Two panes with a spacer between them — the most common modern window.
Triple glazing
≈ 36–44 mm total
Three panes and two gaps — thick, heavy units in high-efficiency builds.
